PROJECT NAME : BRAZILIAN VON OBEN
MY ROLE : DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION

discovering brazil from north to south
From the ancient landscapes of Mount Roraima to the wild ecosystems of the Rio Negro and the beauty of the Pantanal, directors Albert Knechtel and two-time Emmy Award Winner Sylvestre Campe take us on an aerial journey through Brazil’s wonders, piloting his paramotor to capture this vast country from a whole new perspective.
In our first episode, we ventured to the tri-border region of Brazil, Venezuela, and Guyana at Mount Roraima. Disconnected from the world for nearly 10 days, we scaled its heights, capturing waterfalls that vanish into mist before reaching the ground, and immersing ourselves in the local culture.
The second episode we ventured deep into the Alto Rio Negro, home to indigenous tribes like the Yanomami and Baniwa. We drifted downriver for nearly 1,000 km toward Manaus, capturing the vast, untouched beauty of this pristine region.
The third episode takes us to the vast desert oasis of the lençois do Maranhense. This unique blend of desert and water hides some incredible secrets behind it.
In the fourth episode, we risk our lives while learning about the terrible devastation that is happening every day in the Amazon. Soy is the enemy of the forest, and the ones who are making a lot of money planting it are not ready to let their earnings go to waste.
We then explore in the fifth episode the unique culture and wildlife of the Pantanal. Here we come face to face with its apex predator, the Jaguar, and learn about the environmental and societal dangers that this beautiful killer faces. We follow the river, uncovering the flipped secrets of this vast region.
